The Star:

Shakespeare reveals many symbols throughout Romeo and Juliet. Each symbol provides a meaning of how it develops plot, theme, character and setting. "I fear too early, for my mind misgives some consequence yet hanging in the stars shall bitterly begin his fearful fate."(Shakespeare.I.iv.107) This provides the audience with the symbol of fate. Romeo had a feeling before he arrived to the mascaraed party that there would be consequences for appearing. The consequence he felt would be out of his hands.The star also reveals plot because it foreshadows what will occur next in the book, in which guides Romeo to fall in love with Juliet. This is a problem because the Capulet and Montague families despise each other which may cause consequences and negativity on their love. Romeo is familiar with having his heart broken by Rosa-line and the men around are persuading him to find a new woman, Romeo may feel pressured. This symbol develops character development because it represents that Romeo is a cautious man. He is thinking about how the night will resolve from his experiences. There is a contrast between Romeo's character because he appears innocent by love, until he spots Juliet and sneaks out in the night to visit her.

Serpent:

Shakespeare uses the serpent to develop the books plot, theme, character and setting. "O serpent heart, hid with a flow'ìng face!"(Shakespeare.III.ii.73). The shocked expression was said by Juliet when the Nurse ran into Juliet`s room claiming Romeo had killed cousin Tybalt. The serpent represents pure evil and Juliet is saying that inside, Romeo is evil at heart but on the outside Romeo appears innocent hid with a flow'ing face. The serpent inside acted on one of Juliet's dear family members. The serpent develops character development because people in the play as well as the audience thought Juliet was driven away from Romeo after she had found out he killed Tybalt. The development of love could had been taken back from Juliet, which could have changed the plot development if she had not felt guilty about blaming her husband.

Mask:

Mercutio speaks to Romeo requesting a mask to cover his face. "If love be rough with you, be rough with love: Prick love for pricking, and you beat love down. Give me a case to put my visage in, (puts on mask) A visor for a visor! What care I, what curious I doth coat deformities? Here are the beetle brows shall blush for me."(Shakespeare.I.iv.27-32). Romeo is aware he must wear a mask to enter the mascaraed party that is held by the Capulet's. Romeo wished to look upon Rosaline for the evening. The mask Romeo was demanded to put on represented grudges and resentment that the Capulet and Montague families have had for years. The mask develops plot because Romeo was eventually caught by Tybalt Capulet, although the prediction turned into a positive attitude toward Romeo appearing at the party. The mask develops character development because it shows how Romeo is following in his families foot steps to rebel against the Capulet's. This means Romeo does what he wants but still cherishes his family by covering his name.
